Meet Michael

As a parent of three daughters—two currently attending RUSD schools and one at Oak Ridge High School—I am personally invested in the success of our community and its students. My priority is to ensure a safe, innovative, and creative learning environment where all students can thrive.

In 2022, I was honored to be appointed by the Board as a Trustee for the Rescue Union School District (RUSD), and I am now seeking re-election to continue serving a district that I hold close to my heart.

With over a decade of residency in this community, I bring a family-centered approach to the role. I have been a small business owner for over 15 years, actively engaged with the EDH Chamber of Commerce since 2017, served as President of the Lakeview Elementary Site Council, and coached youth sports. These roles, combined with my professional background, give me a unique understanding of our community's needs and aspirations. My personal connection as a parent, coupled with my professional experience, enables me to advocate effectively for our district’s future.

During my tenure, the Board and I have made significant strides, including implementing cutting-edge, technology-based safety measures and launching a district-wide solar project expected to save $15 million in utility costs. These efforts have earned the district regional, state, and national recognition, and I am committed to building on this momentum.

Beyond the school district, my dedication to helping youth extends through my work with the Flaherty IMPACT Foundation, which provides scholarships for at-risk students and high school seniors in need. Additionally, as Chairman of the Board for Kids Helping Kids Sacramento, a youth-led nonprofit, I support programs that develop leadership skills while serving children locally and globally.

Professionally, I’ve spent over 20 years involved in the development and entitlement of more than 200 commercial and residential properties nationwide, valued at over $3 billion. My background in civil engineering (B.S. from Villanova University) and business (M.B.A. from USC) has provided me with the expertise to make sound, strategic decisions that benefit the community, both in the private sector and in my role as a school board member.

Endorsed by numerous community leaders and organizations, I am ready to continue building on the achievements of our award-winning district. I am running for re-election because I believe in our district's bright future, and I am committed to building on our tradition of excellence. Together, we can continue making meaningful progress for every student. Thank you for your continued support and I respectfully ask for your vote.
